As we’re getting ready to wrap up the year I can’t help but think of all the things I went through, all the lessons I learned and what my biggest takeaways are from 2017! I swear time goes by faster as we grow older, specially when having fun but at the same time, I had the longest days of my life during the not so good days. I had many up and downs but I mostly learned about my new journey as a blogger which surprisingly enough, were lessons that apply to life in general. Wether you’re also a blogger, an entrepreneur, your own boss, or just trying to figure out what to do next, I hope this post helps you in any way to continue your journey with JOY!
DO IT FOR YOURSELF This is something I learned the hard way. It’s easy nowadays to get caught up with all the Media surrounding us. It’s a blessing and a curse. When I started my business as a blogger I compared myself to others and tried to achieve their same goals aka I tried following their steps thinking it was my shortcut to success. After months and months of stress trying to figure it all out I found it very discouraging and uninspiring because I knew I wasn’t keeping up with their pace. So tired of it, I knew I had to make a drastic change: to do it only for myself! I found out that the more I focused on myself and enjoyed the process in my own way, my readers appreciated it more. Even if I knew it would take me longer to grow and achieve my goals. In other words, forced content vs creative freedom! Since then, I love everything about this journey and only work on it because it makes me truly happy!
STICK TO IT If it’s in your heart, it’s yours! – Denzel Washington. He couldn’t have said it better. If you’re heart desires a certain dream it’s for one great reason, it belongs to you! So whatever road you take, stick to it. During the good and the bad, mistakes and achievements, never give up. If you run out of fuel, take a break, rest, recharge and get back to it. Trust me, you’ll get there and it will all be worth it!
JUST KEEP GOING Easier said than done, I know. I feel like this year was all about learning how to keep going despite of all the challenges that came my way. I learned that it doesn’t matter how big or small is the step you take towards your goal that day, just make sure it’s forward. I would easily get “stuck” on the little things because most of the time they weren’t perfect (I’m my worst critic) until I realized that perfection is the enemy of progress! Having a sticky note on my desk with this quote was a game changer for me. It was a reminder that authentic beauty is opposite to perfection and this gave me the freedom to just keep going!
We’re now headed to Chicago for the Holidays and I can’t wait to experience the city during winter. I know I’ll freeze but I’m crossing my fingers for a white Christmas morning! Thank you so much for reading and being a part of this journey with me, I love and appreciate all of you. Happy Holidays!
