After thinking of various destinations for my birthday weekend getaway we decided to take a short road trip to Palms Springs. First time for both of us. A quick 2 hr drive from LA. We checked in at Korakia Pensione, a true gem in the middle of PS. The heat is no joke this time a year (Summer), which we already knew and still went haha. Being from Cancun I’m definitely use to it but never as dry/intense as the dessert. I didn’t complain tho, chilling all day by the pool drinking champagne was heaven!
This boutique hotel is the perfect place to disconnect (no wifi) and do nothing, literally. Each bungalow is like your own little apartment, you can bring your own food/drinks and feel right at home. The property is small and extremely picturesque, can you tell?! One of the best things about it is it’s intimacy, you can keep to yourself and enjoy the peaceful surroundings or meet your neighbors and party with them, exactly what we did. Naturally 😉 . They recommended dinner at Spencer’s which happened to be delicious! Excellent atmosphere, service, food and drinks!! A must when in Palm Springs! Gourmet breakfast is included at the hotel, so no pressure on getting over your hangover the next morning. Just show up and back to the pool to do some more relaxation. Yes, heaven, yet again.
A few tips I wish I’d known:
- The property has two different sections divided by a street. I personally didn’t mind it but it can take away the magic when watching out for traffic on your way to breakfast.
- Booking in advance (online) will not necessarily mean that you’re getting a better rate. Make sure to call directly and ask for rate deals and details.
- Looks can be deceiving. The beautiful pics on their website make the hotel seem grand including the bungalows. The property is cute and petite.
Nevertheless, now that we know exactly what to expect, we can’t wait to go back to this gem during Winter and enjoy the beautiful fire places they have around the property.
This trip got me excited to continue exploring the little treasures we have around Los Angeles. Where else should we go, I’d love to hear your recommendations. Let me know!
